Welcome to my Editorials, proof that

Feng Shui
"Feng Shui this!'
Eric Bailey Not quite the same impact without the gesture, but think about it for a minute....
This is, I think a very basic desire in humans. People like to quantify, organize and explain things. After all just look at my web site!
The problem is just because an explanation becomes popular does not mean it is correct.
The problem is, when a house, room or whatever is designed properly by someone who knows what they are doing - it will always pass a test like Feng Shui or other similar tests.
In other words, rules like Feng Shui are attempts to explain something well enough, by people who know how to do something well enough, so that people who don't know can try to do it just as well. Of course this has an almost 100% failure rate.
Then another aspect of human nature comes into play - having decided that Feng Shui or whatever is the "right way" to do something it is then shoved down other peoples throats with an evangelical zeal that accepts no moderation or room for other opinions.
